Policy: Equal Opportunities

The Finzean Bucket Mill CIC (CIC) wholeheartedly supports the principle of Equal Opportunities in employment and related matters and opposes all forms of unlawful or unfair discrimination. The CIC is committed to maintaining a culture and philosophy which recognises and rewards individual achievement and merit regardless of:

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Gender Reassignment
  • Marriage and Civil Partnership
  • Pregnancy and Maternity
  • Race
  • Religion or Belief
  • Sex
  • Sexual Orientation

(all of the above are known as “protected characteristics”) .

The CIC will seek to take every possible step to ensure that individuals directly and indirectly involved in the work of the CIC are treated equally and fairly and that decisions on:

  • Recruitment
  • Selection
  • Training
  • Promotion
  • Career Development

are based on objective and job-related criteria.

The CIC will put this policy into practice in the day to day operation of the CIC and will, as necessary, develop and provide training and guidance on the policy and its implementation to those acting on behalf of the CIC. The CIC will use an appropriate grievance procedure (such as that outlined in the Code of Conduct) for any possible instance of discrimination and with any instance of discrimination by someone acting on the CIC’s behalf, the Directors will decide on the appropriate course of action.

The CIC will monitor the implementation of the policy and review the policy periodically.
