This statement confirms the our commitment to fair working practices in support of the Scottish Government’s ‘Fair Work First’ policy.

Fair Work First is the Scottish Government’s flagship policy for driving high quality, inclusive, and fair work across the labour market by applying fair work criteria to grants, other funding, and contracts, where relevant to do so. The Scottish Government is encouraging employers to adopt fair work practices, specifically:

  • Payment of at least the real Living Wage
  • Providing appropriate channels for effective workers’ voice, such as trade union recognition
  • Investment in workforce development
  • No inappropriate use of zero hours contracts
  • Action to tackle the gender pay gap and to create a more diverse and inclusive workplace
  • Offer flexible and family friendly working practices for all workers from day one of employment
  • Opposing the use of fire and rehire practices

The Finzean Bucket Mill CIC’s Commitment:

The CIC demonstrates our commitment to fair work in the following ways:

Real living wage

Our CIC is a real living wage employer, voluntarily paying staff no less per hour than the rate set by the Living Wage Foundation, and we are committed to continuing to provide this benefit.

Employee voice

Our CIC has individual and collective voice channels to listen to and engage with staff.  We have forums to engage, consult and negotiate with our employees, providing early awareness and escalation of health, safety and wellbeing issues. Employees are welcome to and entitled to join trade unions and elect a trade union representative.

Investment in the workforce

Our CIC provides training to Directors, Employees and Volunteers as required. As an organisation with a strong educative ethos, we always strive to upskill and develop all those whom we work with.

No innapropriate use of zero hours contracts

Our CIC does not use zero hours contracts.

Action to tackle the gender pay gap and create a diverse and inclusive workplace

Our CIC works to encourage, create and nurture an inclusive space, where diversity is accepted and celebrated. This culture extends to our employment practices, in which we endeavour to never financially discriminate on the basis of gender.

Offering flexible and family friendly working practices

We offer all employees the means to work flexibly to support a healthy and happy family life.

Opposing the use of fire and rehire practices

Our CIC does not use fire and rehire practices.
